People hate what they do not understand. They hate because they were taught to hate by their religion, their culture and their elders.

It is too easy to say that those that hate us hate us because they may be gay. A few might, but most dont. Its ignorance, just as those that hate blacks, muslims, jews hate those groups, its often based on ignorance of what these people are really all about.

The trick is to avoid falling into the same pattern of hating back, its hard to not hate our haters, and i am not sure I always succeed.

i think because everyone is a little gay or gay curious at some point in there life and most hate to admitt it and so they make fun of those that are gay, because it makes them feel less gay. It's the same way with the bully on the playground...they bully because of low self esteem and putting people down makes them feel better about themselves. I grew up in a sheltered baptist home..they are very against homosexuality..so i was at one point as well. Till my fav. cousin came out to the family. He was gay. then it hit home for me and i decided from then on the be an open minded individual and so my parents kicked me out at 18years old and i've been on my own since (23yr now) i love who i am today and i have many gay/les friends and they have helped me to see i have a little bi curiousness in me as well. I haven't acted on it yet, but i enjoy the fantasies..and les chic porn..and whatnot. And my bf loves me enough where if i decided to venture into being with a women, he would understand because he is just as open minded as i am. I beleive that god blessed me with him because i chose not to judge and shun my cousin for being gay like the rest of the family did. He's great, so much fun. It's noones business what people sexual orientation is. sad world we live in today.

I think we have come a long way. I had some1 in my class have a fit because there were lesbians at the place of employment. she said, what if they hit on me. I said, "Oh don't we think we are cute!"

They are upset if a GLB hits ON them, yet they are more offended that someone didn't;t find them attractive. Most of my friends are straight guys. They are cool with the entire thing. Yes they talk about me, but that's what guys do! I just talk stuff back. If they say something like, you are so gay! I tell them, that's why your daddy likes me so much. Hours and hours of fun!

I think we are having the same issues that African Americans had during segregation. We will have these integration growing pains for a min.

I think its because they hate change....because of the time when people hate gay people they many other things that are different then from what they are used to seeing....I think is wrong to hate anyone that decides that they want to be themselves regardless of what people think....So i think it takes a strong person to come out and admit that they are gay....

There are a lot of reasons. Could be that they were brought up to believe it's morally wrong. Could be they think the act of homosexual sex is physically repulsive. Maybe they secretly harbour their own homosexual tendencies and are lashing out as a way of overcompensating. Maybe they think homosexuals are simply genetic dead ends, since they can't reproduce. Maybe they're offended by all attention homosexuals get as a special interest group.

EDIT: I thought of one more. Anyone seen the movie The Way of the Gun? In that movie Mr. Parker asks an interesting question:

"Why is it that if I grab a woman's [rear end] and she hits me, she's standing up for her rights, but if a [homosexual male] grabs my [rear end] and I hit him, I'm a homophobe?"

Maybe some people dislike it because of the insane belief that if you disagree with homosexuality or anything that a homosexual says or does, that automatically makes you a homophobe.

I do believe that there's something on them that triggered their personality. Personally, I do not like gay people since it is not normal to the society, more so in the Bible, there was no mention that God created gay. It was mentioned only that God created man in his own image, and out of man God created woman. No gay mentioned at all. That is why, it is normal if some will react negatively towards gay people, for some reasons, one is that, they never expect gays to exist. Yet, for me, I encountered gays, but I do not hate them, what I hate are the things they are doing that are not normal to human practices. I want to help gays to see themselves as God's precious creation. God loves them the way He loves the rest of the people in the world.
Yes, our world still need more space for LOVE, love for the gay. People of instead hating the gays must love them and let them see the problem why these people turned out to be gay, and address that problem point to the blank. I do believe that there are valid reasons why these people became gay, for some just camouflaged for this kind of character, due to some pains/hurts, or bitter experiences in the past.

1. They are not mature enough.
2. They may be taught (from parents, society or church) that it is "wrong" to be gay and therefore translate the "wrongness" of it to "I must hate them".
3. They fear that area since they don't understand it.
4. They are gay themselves and they don't want anyone to know about it.

the world may never know, but i have a few good ideas.

most homophobes are religious. they claim that G-d and jesus were and are against homosexuality. the reality is, jesus never said anything about it. if you look at His quoted words, he never said a thing about them. he preached to love thy neighbor, accept the "lepers", and to be caring and forgiving.

G-d created Adam and Eve, correct? he also created the tree of evil and knowledge. he created the snake who temped eve. so, when adam and eve ate the apple they had to create a home and have children, so one can conclude that g-d created every human. one can also conclude that every human derived from sin. thus, everyhuman is a sinner. G-d also forgave us and told us to forgive others.

so, my question to you is, how can people call homosexuality a sin when they are sinners as well? "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" jesus said.

there is no real answer to your question except fo stupidity.

It is usually religious people who are afraid of things that aren't like them already anyways. I read a news article of how a church group split into different sects becuase they started letting oppenly gay people attend services, and most of the people thought that it was wrong. People need to just cowboy up and realize that people are different, and just because you are gay, arab, jewish, christian or athiest, your life is no less important than theirs.

Homophobia is the irrational fear of one's own homosexuality. They hate people who are openly gay because they are afraid of the fact that they are gay. Every bigot is gay and has not the courage to admit it, even to themselves.
