I have tried many of them back in my more limber days.
You have to be pretty darned flexible for a lot of them, start those yoga classes now, and I found that they really didn't spice up the sex all that much, not enough to warrant the work and effort they require. The book ended up being lost, and I don't miss it.
If you're looking for stuff to spice up your sex life, just a guess I'm not implying anything, just try a few of these tricks and save yourself the visit to the chiropractor or physical therapist that the Kama Sutra may cause.
1. Move sex out of the bedrooom. Being straddled on the couch in the living room or bending her over the kitchen counter work well, as does the shower, if it's big enough.
2. Try different positions. Look up positions like "the swimmer" or the "the cross". They don't require the pretzel like flexibility of the Kama Sutra and you might like them.
3. Roleplay. This can be a lot of fun and really spice up your love life, it feels kinda naughty sometimes and can be a real turn on. Just use your imagination.
4. Try a little light bondage. Now I'm not saying going out and buy liquid latex and a cat-o-nine tails, but fur lined handcuffs are fun and kinky.
5. Remember sex is supposed to be fun, not work and shouldn't require a manuel. If it does, you're doing it wrong.

Kama Sutra is not about trying every position but understanding how to transition from position to position and not ruin the flow. When you understand the needs of your partner and/or their limitations, likes or dislikes, you can use the positions of the TAO or Kama Sutra to make your session last as long or as short as you like with the maximum amount of sensuality unleashed.

I really wish that I could get a hold of a Karma Sutra book. Do those things actually work?

I'm still practising on page 1. I'll let you know in a couple of days when I've finished the book.
