It is a consumer society but it is also peopled by those who work in health care, social care, risk their lives in the emergency services and the armed forces to name but a few of those who are the glue that keeps society together and not the makers of all these goods

Hi,
Although I can "dress the part" I prefer wandering into work & places with scruffy old hippy gear on.
I give to such folks as Oxfam, I have a nice car, home and computer. But I don't jump up & down about it.
Selfish ? Of course we look after No.1, but in my book, not to the detriment of ourselves.
Seems reasonable, if a tad "selfish"
I think we all are to some degree.
If you didn't look after yourself, you can't help others.

Yes, sadly, this is the case. But each individual like you and me play their part in starting a selfless revolution!

I do not think so , why not enjoy the fruits of your labour. Also we are a very generous people and nation to others less fortunate than ourselves.

No!
You forgot to mention manipulating others and hurting their feelings. Yes, two of my personal favourites.
