In this day and age, it is probably defined as a terminal word, it is what it says it is, any other definition is purely repetitive.
Thesaurus, the only surviving animal from the Jurassic era, primarily because it lived on words, having an insaitiable appetite for such, it still survives on the many new words being created today, and is unlikely to become extinct.
