Hi Funnelweb , I Agree with you that Dog Licences should be Re-Instated , I also think that Anyone Purchasing a Dog should Be Caused to "Produce" a Current Dog Licence , prior to being allowed to complete the purchase and the taking away of a Dog -- with the seller having to keep a record of the new owners Details ,,, I am Totally against "Over-Regulation" but I really do think that this is an area which needs Cleaning up - I.e the Cruelty and the Problem of Abandoned Dogs , The Burden on Dogs Homes Etc. Etc.--- Good Luck to You .....

Ive to get a dog licence every year so i don't think they stopped.
I'm northern Ireland i never ever let my dogs out unleashed but if they did get out a dog warden is called the one at my town is very good in a quick response the license tag helps him identify my dog plus mine is chipped i would be fined for him being free but if he was unlicensed it would be a higher fine and also if not chipped or licensed the dog warden is allowed to re home my dog and if it wasn't re homed it would be destroyed .

I don't know where you live, but dog licenses were never eliminated where I live in Southern New Jersey. You can't own a dog here without one. Our local police will cite owners of any dog found to be unregistered when they come across one.

Where do you live that dog licenses aren't already being used? Michigan has always had them. If you get caught without one, you're fined the price of the license and forced to get the necessary shots and check ups.

They exist where I live, but we still have problems with dogs off leashes and threatening people and property. There will always be people who can't afford the licenses and don't get them. Then you end up with dogs being picked up and placed up for adoption because the owners can't "bail" them out.

In my county (maybe the whole state) dog's are required to have a license on their collar, as well as a rabies tag. Nobody follows the law, though, and nobody enforces it. It is pointless because it isn't enforced

Yes me too!
But just because a dog has a certain amount of wolf in it shouldn't be a reason to call it dangerous!

Most states require you to be up to date on fines. If he is, then I see no reason to have difficulty, unless he lost it as a result of the violation.
