He's 3 months old so nothing would be more interesting than hanging out with mom. The best thing? Do you have a Bjorn or a baby sling? I always put my daughter on me and let her go around. That way, she stayed calm and I was able to watch her.

That's probably the best option because I don't suggest leaving your kid that young alone. Also, he'll be entertained by watching you. Remember babies that age find interest in ANYTHING and if you were cleaning that'd give him an interesting, new view!!!

Good luck!

He should neither be sitting in front of the tv, or "busy" all day. Are you talking about other things you need to do around the house? Just take him with you. Put a blanket down on the floor and let him lay there. At that age kids can amuse themselves for hours examining their fingers and toes.

there ar emany things you can try... lay him on a blacket and put one of those gym things over him where the can kick and play.. also a rocking basenet worked great on my son. I would lay him in it and just turn it on. Give him a toy to play with while he is in like some bright colored toys. I think he might be to small for a bouncey if he is only 3 months. If you don't have much money you can go to a used baby store or garage sales and find all kinds of stuff to help.

Your 3 mo. old still needs plenty of naptime during the day. Parking him in front of the TV isn't the answer, He also doesn't need to "stay busy." Your baby can be overstimulated!

The best thing you can do is get some things you need to do done during the baby's naptimes. BUT, don't get so busy during his naps that you forget to get some rest yourself!

Another thing--don't stress over what "needs" to get done. The dishes can wait, the laundry will still be there, and you'll get it all taken care of in time. Ask your husband for some help, he should pitch in too!

The first 6 months are pretty rough, but it will get easier.

Wear him in a sling or front carrier while you are busy.
Tie him on your back in a wrap.
Put him in a swing or bouncy seat.
Get a baby gym to lay him under on the floor.
Talk/sing to him while you are working in the same room.
Fold laundry sitting in the floor with him in your lap or laying on a blanket next to you.
Lay him down in a crib with the mobile going.
Put the bouncy seat on the kitchen table while you are cooking (once he can sit he can go in the high chair while you cook).

my daughter is also 3 months. i usually try to get stuff done when my daughter is asleep but sometimes she doesn't sleep for long. so i usually put her in her bouncy for a few minutes in the room i'm in. she loves it. she likes being able to sit up and play and i can get a few things done. if that doesn't work try a sling or some type of baby carrier. i love my mei tai wrap. it's pretty and comfortable. i can carry her in front or put her on my back. check out thebabywearer.com for more on carriers.

I have a 3 months old as well.
He does not to be busy all day.
I put him to sleep several times a day. In between I put him for 10-15 min in the swing, I use also the little gym (play mat), leave him bi himself in his bed for a while (if he is not crying), than sleep and eat again...time flies.

maybe try using a sling?
Your baby should be put before anything else that needs doing.
I get really worried when I visit someone with a newborn and their house his spotless.
You need to talk to, sing and play with your baby when he is awake.
Do the other stuff when he's alseep.

cheapest way to keep your baby busy....
put some music on, and put your baby on a blanket on the floor!!! make sure you are able to be seen, and you smile and call his name every few minutes....
this might keep him occupied for about 10-15 minutes, but hey! its better than nothing!!!!!

or a non-cheap way.... get a baby swing, or a baby bouncer seat... my daughter loves both of those!

My daughter is only 6 weeks and she entertains herself on her playmat, swing and bouncy seat. Also when she's really fussy and wont let me put her down, I put her in my sling and just do my chores with her riding along. You can get one at Walmart really cheap.
