About 6 weeks ago at a prenatal check up my doctor told me i had gained too much weight so for now on he only wanted me gaining a pound a month. So i've been working really hard to eat healthy and exercise daily. I haven't gained any weight since my last visit and i think i'm doing pretty good consedering i have another three months to go. I was wondering how much weight is normal at this point?

I am 25 weeks today and I have gained 20 lbs. With my first one I gained 30 lbs total. At this point in pregnancy you should be gaining about one pound a week. 30 to 35 lbs weight gain is healthy. Gaining only 15 lbs is not enough.

Those week by week pregnancy books will tell you what the normal range is. I remember at 20 weeks I had gained 8-10 pounds and I believe at 24 weeks it was between 12-15 pounds, this varied since I've had three pregnancies.

At my last check up (at 20 weeks) I had gained 10 lbs. I think I've gained about 12 lbs now at 24 weeks. My doctor scolded me because I gained too much too fast. I had been losing weight up to my last visit. I'm almost up to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I still think it was unfair of my doctor to complain about my weight since I am about at where I'm supposed to be weight wise. I'm trying to watch what I eat, it's so unfair too considering this is the holidays and I really want chocolate so bad. I'm currently chewing bubble gum to help my sweet tooth cravings.

Doctors recommend you gain through out your pregnancy between 25-35 lbs. It sounds to me your doing the right thing better yet I was told that if you feel hungry try to eat something every 3 hours for example an apple, babana, orange any fruit or vegetables carrots, celery with little to no dressing. I hope this helps! Stay away from fast food! It would be hard for you later to loose the weight and exercise walking for 30 minutes a day does help alot.

at that point I gained between 10-15 lbs with all three of my kids. You should stay between 20-25 for the whole pregnancy (on average), but it's easy to gain more with all that good food out there. Just be sensible about what you eat, and you'll be fine. Don't overdo the exercise, but it's always a good idea to get a little "work out" (it makes delivery that much easier). Talk to your doctor about a good diet/exercise plan.

I am 17 weeks and already gained 12 pounds. I have tried to start eating better too and am starting to walk more to help keep the weight off.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I am 38 weeks and have gained about 50 lbs. I also have not been doing so well in the heat, which I think is water retention. I have been walking and working out and that actually has helped bring the swelling go down.

I had gained 11lbs by my 24wk appt...18lbs total in the pregnancy.
There is no way to control how much you gain in a pregnancy, so for him to tell you only 1lb month is insane!! Baby's have growth spurts and you can't diet or exercise too much while pregnant. What a tard your dr is!
Its normal to gain 30-50lbs in a pregnancy, and the majority of it is put on in the first 2 trimesters, once you get towards the end you slow down considerably.
