I lost my mucous plug at 34 weeks and had my baby at 38 weeks. The only time you need to rush anywhere at 38 weeks pregnant is when your water breaks. Labor takes a long time for most people, although it is quick for some. Remember you are looking for contractions (which may feel like cramps) that come every 4 minutes, last a minute and continue for an hour. 4-1-1
A woman in labor has a hard time catching her breath and you will find that you have to stop what you are doing because the pain catches you off guard. I remember everyone telling me, "oh you will know what it is time" and thinking these people were crazy I don't know and I think this is it. When it really was time...I knew it, it was unmistakeable.

Not to discourage you, but I lost my mucus plug and had to be induced because I wasn't dilating past 1cm. I also was feeling the cramping, perhaps it's the baby dropping and sometimes I think it was all in my head because I wanted to go into labor so bad. Good Luck to you and don't have too much anxiety about it, the baby will come when he/she is ready.

If you're unsure, then go to the hospital (or call your midwife if you're planning a home delivery). If you've lost your mucus plug, then you're on your way....
If the cramps you are having are painful, it may be a good idea to see your doctor. You may have been 1cm on Monday, but that can change quickly...better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck and congratulations

Every person is different with the mucus plug, I lost mine about a week before actually having my kid. With the symptoms you are having, I would suggest going to the doc tomorrow, The vomiting, the diarrhea, and the back pain is what i'm thinking is labor. I had all back labor with my kid, which means I felt no contractions in the front, but it felt like someone was trying to break my back. I had horrible diarrhea from this (all the pressure on my back). It doesn't hurt to call, you have lost your plug, my nurse told me I should have called when I lost it, just to let them know. If you feel too uncomfortable to wait until tomorrow, go to the ER and they will contact your OB. There is nothing wrong with feeling like you should go in.

with the life of a baby , if you lost the mucus plug, then you need to go on to the emergency room, or call the doctors office for sure.
