Definitely a hardware problem- the most likely suspect is a bad or loose cable.
Go into BIOS setup and see what's connected on the primary IDE channel (it could be a hard drive, or CD/DVD drive)

Open up your box and check your main hard drive and make sure everything is connected right to the drive and the motherboard.. Its saying your primary drive, which is your boot partition for windows in most cases, is not making a connection with the motherboard or the cable itself..

The guy above is wrong. If your hard drive was not connected, it would say "No boot device." Honestly, I've never heard of the error you described. You should ask your computer or motherboard manufacturer. I'm guessing you get this error as soon as your computer turns on, before Windows loads. It is possible that something is wrong with your motherboard.

sounds like your ide cable is only UDMA/33 certified & your drive interfaces at UDMA/66/100/133. if you don't have another cable modify your UDMA in your bios. could also be a bad cable...
