"We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as definitive and has as its highest value one's own ego and one's own desires... The church needs to withstand the tides of trends and the latest novelties.... We must become mature in this adult faith, we must guide the flock of Christ to this faith"

Personally I agree.

The fun part is that anyone who disagrees is immediately a non-issue because their view is "relative"

Moral relativism has been around a long time, and we're all still here, so the threat cannot be that great. I'd say there are degrees of relativism, and some is good. The reverse would be absolutism, and strict absolutism, in morals as well as politics, is just not an intelligent or workable view in this post Enlightenment era.

I believe relativism is a threat because it it a symptom of lazy thinking. Lazy thinking is a tool for tyrants.
I don't agree that it is a religious issue. I differ with the pope by believing that only an individual with an ego can truly reject relativism because when one become a part of a collective, be it a political voting block or a member of a 'flock', you have to rely on relativism to exist in a unity that relies so heavily on a mutual faith in things unseen.

How closed minded of you. If any one disagrees it is a non-issue. I think it is a bunch of crock.
