Heck no! If ever a Muslim was elected to the Presidency I would do like the liberals said they would do... I would move.

German=yes...Japanese=no. I don't think that the average American knew much about the Japanese people, culture, etc. and their contribution to the US in 1948. Their numbers and distribution throughtout the US were such that people didn't know them.
Much like those various "nationalities" who practice the Muslim religion or follow Mohammed today.. We don't know them ....yet. In time, when they have assimilated into our society and can be judge on their merits and contributions as AMERICANS, then we can move forward.
Those of German descent have been here since the early 1700s and did have to assimilate into the English society. They also were the second largest population in the US that helped in the creation of the US and the constitution. While there were some discrimination toward them during WW I and II, the majority of the German-Americans had disconnected ties to the old country years before and their loyality was centered in the US. More recent immigrants from Germany who still retained the language accent were the targets of the discrimination.
I would like to think that the US is big enough to include this other type of personal faith. As long as this faith or creed does not threaten the basic structure of our country. But when that faith or creed does advocate the destruction of our basic way of life then we have right to disallow it and those that support those ideas.
It is up to those who practice these "new" faiths or creeds to teach us what they are about. (Humor is always a good way) Until they do, I guess I will treat them with suspicion.

German, maybe- many immigrated to this country 100 years before 1948- (today Germans constitute a higher percentage of descent in this country than any other) bUT yeah, no way I'd vote for a muslim, not today, not 4 years from now NOT EVER.

from the way you raised this question , i'm surprised why all Muslim-faith americans still allowed to be out and about and not been locked up in a labour camp as the US government did to the Japs in the 40's.

Ah, Roosevelt is a name of German extract. Why must a person's ethnic background determine their ability to govern? Prejudge at your own expense or wake up and find out the facts.

People forget quickly but I doubt very seriously at that time a definite no. If they elect a muslim the country is finished

My mom was born in 1945 so she was too young to vote and my dad I wasn't know he left us me and my twin sister. Let's see my grandparent work in the field in georgia so the was to fearful to vote this lists can go on but I will stop at this.

My mother hadn't even gone through puberty yet, so I know I wasn't even an egg at that time...so I don't think I would have voted.
