Your not weird. A lot of people have that curiousity of what it's like working with the dead in that atmosphere. I think it's very interesting. If you want go for it.

It's not weird at all. Some people are lucky and able to separate themselves from emotion when dealing with unpleasant physical issues. It's really not much different than being a surgeon or a pathologist.
I gave the issue of going to mortuary school a lot of thought several years ago, but because I had small children and a busy life, I never did it. Death is a part of life and making sure that the dead are treated respectfully is an honorable profession.
If this is something that you feel that you can do as a service to humanity, then by all means do it. It is not gross or weird or morbid.
Good luck to you and God bless!

Teenagers seem to have a fascination for the dead. I'm not saying this as mean. Maybe because it's the unknown? It is a little strange that you want to work in a funeral home but someone has to do it. People change careers all the time. You might not want to do this in a year or two. I've sometimes wondered how people end up in the mortuary business.

No, it's not wierd, otherwise all undertakers would be thought of as wierd. Most people see them as very respectable members of society, doing an absolutely essential job. Better to have someone do that job who sees it as a vocation, rather than just a way of earning money.

Someone has to do it. It's only weird because of the false social norms established in our society. Your dad might also think that all attractive females need to look like movie stars and super models.
A good embalmer actually does a major service to the family and friends of the deceased, cosmetically repairing any damage done during their death and allowing a final viewing of them.

Well I will say a career with the funeral parlor pays off really well. Morticians make a huge sum of money! You will have a steady flow of customers just dying to do business with you. Hey, someone has to do it!

NOT weird at all... Someone has to do it and we pay them big bucks to do so. It is one hell of a good living to make. Stick with it and own a funeral home one day and live well... with the dead.

I wanted to do that too when I was your age, I thought it would be interesting to be a mortician. There are schools you have to go to, there's a lot to learn about embalming. Some folks may think it's odd, but hey - somebody's got to do it!
