Guitar Hero I controller compatible with GHII?

I bought my boyfriend the GH bundle for Christmas and am planning on getting him the GHII bundle as well. My questions is does the controller included in the GH bundle work with GHII? Thanks for all your help!

As M=L just said, yes it does. My friend has both bundles and we went over to his house and played head-to-head and co-op. It was great fun! =)
