I want to get my boss something for x-mas but dont know what to get. I got him a gift certificate to a restaurante for his b-day and don't know if that would be ok to do again. I'm the only one in the office so I can't ask anyone to pitch in. Please give me some ideas.

If he drinks coffee, find out what he likes and get him a bag of Starbuck's equivalent, or a Starbucks or local coffee house gift card.

Can you take him to lunch?

Gift card is the best way to go. Perhaps find out where he goes for coffee, then get him a gift card for there and a refillable mug or cup of some kind.
Maybe a gift certificate to his favorite dry cleaners.
Just remember, you don't want to seem like you are trying to kiss up, so it's definitely the thought that counts, not the amount!!!

A Gift Card With your highest spending limit! You can never go wrong with that! Maybe bring up a casual conversation about one of his favorite shopping stores! Well then again it depends on the type of place you work. If it is a wellpaid ubical job that would be fine but if you like work at a law firm too! Hope my advice helps! And pleeze select me for best answer if you think I earned it!!!

I got my boss a new quick charger for his cell phone. It was about $20.00 I'm not a fan of giving gift cards, so impersonal. Its the thought that counts. Get him a fruit basket he can take home for his family. Just some ideas.

I got mine a nice book of brain challenges and optical illusions at the discovery store, because it fits his personallity.

Digital picture frame would be nice, and I've gotten nice stained glass star ornaments for another boss that went over quite well.

Neck massage pillow? Car toys? Desk Toys? good luck.

Books are perfect presents for bosses. I always get something like 101 things to see and do or a coffee table book based on one of their interests.

Try to find clues to his personality in his office. Does he like golf, coffee, sports?

Be wary of giving him a coffee mug, at office events these things are distributed like candy and can often pile up.

My boss loves chocolate so I got her two bags of Dove chocolates, its simple, I know she'll love it, and it just fits.

If he's a coffee drinker then how about a Starbucks gift card or a nice Christmas ornament with the date or a nice executive pen set or desk set. Here are a couple of ideas.

You can never go wrong with a nice bottle of champagne. Even if he doesn't drink it, he could also take it with him to a New Year's Eve party or other event.
