im not sure......im due in 4 days and i took castor oil with orange juice yesterday morning and so far nothing has happened!....i didnt even poop at all!....maybe i just had the wrong one....if u try one and it works for u let me know.....some people say its dangerous for the baby, but if it was THAT bad millions of women do it everyday and their babies are fine, plus when my mother had kids the midwives told her to do that....so dont let anyone make u feel like crap about doing it.

Do not use castor oil to try to induce labor! I am a nurse, midwife and mother and I can tell you that it is not suggested by any health care professional to use castor oil to try and start labor. It usually never works and worse is dangerous. It is best to wait for nature to start your labor on your own but, if you are feeling like you just have to do something these suggestions are safer and much more likely to help you have a great labor and a healthy baby! #1 Pineapple Juice - it not only helps your cervix to mature and efface but it also has been thought of to help with getting your contractions going... #2 (This is of course an only if you and your husband think you can suggestion) Try having sex.. During an orgasm you experience tightening of your uterus and minor contractions, these have been time-tested to help jump start labor, also there is a chemical in his semen that helps weaken the bag of water surrounding your baby. #3 Taking frequent light walks (This is also so helpful in the first stages of labor to help it progress) Hope that these suggestions are helpful to you and that you have a wonderful childbirth! Good luck and congratulations

Don't do that. It will give you stomach cramps, and a big bm. It's a laxative and there's no proof it induces labor especially if your cervix isn't ripe and you aren't about to go into labor yet. It can cause the baby to pass meconium inutero.

There are some herbs readily available that will induce contractions, but this should be done by your doctor so I will not name these herbs. If a woman and baby is ready for delivery, she may have her mucous plug scraped and be put on pitosin for this purpose.

My fav's were rasberry tea, evening primrose oil and walking the stairs - that really kicked little contractions into gear.

Don't do this, don't rush anything, you could possibly hurt your baby. This is known to cause false contractions and can possibly dehydrate you and the baby, and cause other problems, just let your body do the job on it's own...

ooh, taking castor oil is NOT a good idea. It will make you poop and it will also make the baby poop - and that is really bad before he/ she is born. I wouldn't recommend that at all!

Dont use it...it doesnt work. It will do nothing but give you diarhea and make you vomit, and possibly put you in the hospital for dehydration. And if it makes you that sick, imagine what it does to your baby!!!
