succubus is the Latin name of a mythological creature that is presumably shadow, but takes the form of a devilish female. This creature attacks men in the final third of the night by lying on their chests, smothering them. In some fables, such a creature can be summoned by a necromancer to kill their enemies and to bring fresh corpses to the necromancer.
