Buy the best of that which you can afford. Or failing that give them some time.....Listen to their stories of their lives especially as they are in their 70s. Give them a promise that you will give them a few hours every week for a year to do some little job that is starting to get to be just too much for them. Show them what can be accomplished on the computer if they do not already know. A present does not always have to be bought.

As much as you can afford, but my bet is that your grandparents just want to see you for Christmas and spend some time with you.
I suggest a bouquet of flowers or a potted plant for your grandmother, possibly a good box of chocolates, too, if they can eat sweets.
And for your grandfather, since he is active, a subscription to a magazine that might interest him, such as a hunting or fishing magazine, or golf, or sports periodical, or if he enjoys crossword puzzles, get him a subscription for that!
But the best gift that you can give to your grandparents is your time and your love.
Merry Christmas!

Spend as much as you want. I got for my grandma a photo album and got some pictures of me and the family to stick in to it. I know she will like that but for your grandpa maybe something to do with sport or something. I don't really know about that because every year i have brought my grandpa Toblerone lol

You "can" spend any amount of money you would like to. I don't think that you should spend a lot because that isn't what is important about Christmas. Maybe give them a nice picture frame with a picture of you and your family in it.

Grandpa and Grandma need brain work outs to stay stong and functional- give Sudoku books - crossword puzzle books - maybe a kit for a yarn rug...and LOTS of reminders that you like to be around them....tell them you want to learn something from them this year that you have always loved..maybe Grandad grills and you want his skills - or Grandmom cooks and you want to start collecting her recipes....
Most of all they want to know you think they are important! Have fun with it!!!
(And the love those cards that when you open them they sing a song...it is fun and sort of different from all the others they get... at least my Grandmom did and kept hers around for a year after I sent it!)

Spend as much as you can afford. What about gift certificates to their favorite restaurant. Or if you don't have much to spend, make a photo album of current pictures of all of their descendents.
