I assume you mean targetted manipulation by humans
YES many examples
Simple ones...
(i) Vaccines ..traditionally you inject attenuated pathogens (bacteria or virusses Killed by heat for example), or less pathenogenic strains (classic example cow pox to gain immunity to small pox) to induce your immune system
now-future can be NA vaccines in which you target the allergen/ antigen to be expressed in specific cells to for example change a Th2 to th1 immune response (in english, to prevent either prophylatically or curatively allergies)
(b) drugs..immunosupressives for example if you have an organ transplant to prevent rejection etc
and so on and so on
Take home:-
(i) Intentionaly by dsign:- YES you can
(ii) Unintentionally by accident:- Yes you can (e.g smoking, alcohol, allergens, etcetc)

Absolutely. Immune system replacement for some cancer patients is an example. Even if the Immune system is augmented, it is manipulated. Use if Alpha Inteferon and Interluekin II stimulate killer T Cells

Yes its possible allwright.
Sometimes suppression of immune system is required in case of organ transplants in order to coax/force the body to accept it, or in case of autoimmune diseases.
Gammaglobulin suppressors are used.
Sometimes enhancement of immune system is required in case of some fatal diseases.
In fact a vaccine given provides immunity against specific microbes by aiding the immune system to produce specific antigens.

Yes it is. The class of drug known as TNF monoclonals such as Enbrel, Amevive, Remicade, etc regulates immune response to stop inflammatory diseases like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. They're VERY costly, but they do work well.
