I got mine pierced at Claires, and they were awesome! They let you hold a teddy bear and give you the option to get them pierced at the same time (best way, not as bad as it sounds. If you get them one at a time, you might hate it and not want the other done.)
Also, be sure to get gold or sterling silver earrings! If you're just getting them pierced, the last thing you want is an infection!
Good luck and by the way it doesn't really hurt!

Well if you get them pierced at Claires... then Claire will have them and you wont. Kidding.

Seriously though, it's best to go to a piercing studio (like a tattoo and piercing shop), not a mall store. The best way to pierce any body part is with a needle not one of those piercing guns. Professional piercers are licensed to do what they do. The teenagers that work at the mall stores are not. Good luck.

You really should not go to places that use piercing guns to pierce ears like Claire's or The Icing. Piercings guns are bad news. For reasons why, read this:

Go to a piercing/tattoo shop to get pierced.

I've had my ears pierced at Claire's and at 2 other mall shops and then once by a friend at home. In my experience, they've all worked out equally, however, if you're getting the cartilage pierced, you may want to go to a body piercing place. The mall shop that did my cartilage did it wrong and I had to have it redone.

If its just your lobes (the soft lower part of your ear) then its fine as long as the person at claires seems to know what they're doing. If you want a part of your ear pierced that's at all hard ( containing cartilidge) then No way. Go to a certified & trusted piercing place, they used instruments which enable your ears to heal up faster and healthier.

Claire's has a good reputation.

However, bring someone with you that has a good eye, so they can make sure that the piercings do not come out crooked.

Don't be afraid to speak up, remember these are your piercings. You should be happy with them.

Take care and happy holidays!

Do you have a body piercing store near you? They ahve much stricter guidelines and training that they must adhere to, so you would be dealing with someone with more knowledge. Sometimes at the mall, you get the 16 year old girl who just started at Thanksgiving trying to earn a few dollars for Christmas. Not that she can't be great at what she does.. she can. But I would prefer more of a specialist if you have one available. Good luck, I am sure they will be beautiful!

The best place to go is a tattoo and piercing place. Because piercers there do not use the guns used in the mall. The gun piercing takes longer to heal and sometimes causes you to have a knot form in your ear lobe.

I wouldn't get my ears pierced there. Who knows how long that person has been doing it??? I'd suggest Merle Norman, if you have one in your mall, its a little tiny bit more expensive, but well worth it if you don't want an infection or crooked, off-centered pierced ears. Wherever you go, just make sure the person knows what they are doing, and have actual training, not just learned at that job.
