Hi
I had my baby on the 12th of this month and surprisingly enough the epidural and the labor didn't hurt. I was dreading the epidural because I had been hearing and even a nurse told me it can hurt when it's being administered. I didn't feel anything only the sting from the needle going in and a slight tingle down my back bottom. That was it. The contractions hurt before going to the hospital- yes they hurt but I managed and I only cried to my fiance once before they gave me the epidural that it hurt. The breathing through them helps. Also keeping a positive attitude helped through everything as well.
What hurt the most actually was the post delivery pain. My epidural had started to wear off and I had bad back pain. Also my anus hurt sooo bad and it was hard for me to walk and sit. The pain killers help with all that. Overall I didn't experience any level of pain that I couldn't endure again. BUT it won't be for at least another two years:)

Of course there's some pain involved, but some people hurt more than others. My experience was this... I had a really long & painful labor & the contractions before childbirth were very painful. But my pelvis was too small for the baby to pass through, so the pain was mostly due to the pressure of the baby trying to squeeze through the bones of my pelvis. Eventually I had to have an emergency c-section because my labor went on too long & the baby was in distress. When you get a c-section they give you morphine because they basically have to cut open your entire abdomen & pull the baby out. After the morphine I felt nothing. Even for natural childbirth they have really good pain medication now though, & some women I know said that once they put the epidoral in they had no pain after. It's different for everybody.

Don't you just Love some of these answers! lol
It is going to hurt for the most part! At first it wont hurt, your stomach will just get tight and feel weird that's just the contractions. but as soon as you start getting further along and your baby starts to drop there will be a lot of pressure down there That's when it starts to hurt!!! when that happened to me i asked for some drugs cause it hurt pretty bad.(the good thing is, is that th pain only last for a few minutes then stops a few minutes, but then it happens all over again!) after i had the drugs it was fine i couldn't feel a thing!! I ended up having a c-section so i received an epidural as well. Coming off the epidural was difficult as well i was shivering. (like i was cold) and had trouble holding my son and feeding him. but everything i had went threw was definitely worth the pain! good luck to you!

Usually, it depends upon a lot of things, including the pain-threshold of the person having the baby, the size and/or position of the baby, etc. My first one hurt a LOT, the second was a lot smaller and came faster, so not so bad. The last one was huge and came out with his arms crossed behind his head (he's 20 and still sleeps that way sometimes) and he REALLY hurt. But the pain doesn't stay with you, and it is easily forgotten!!!!!!!!and well worth the trouble

Yes, it does hurt. Some women have an easier time than others. I went out almost everyday and took walks so I would have an easier and shorter time in labor and delivery. It's good to be able to exercise and do exercises if it's at all possible. My first baby I was in labor about 1 1/2 hours. My second I was in labor and delivery about 45 minutes. My third baby in labor about 1 1/2 hours.I had natural delivery. I had nothing for the pain.Only because I was not having problems. Some women are in labor for hours. The pain is well worth it after you hold your baby for the first time and love that baby.

Yes it does hurt but you can have an epidural to help with the pain and then you just feel pressure. But it's all worth it in the end when you see that wonderful little life and hold that beautiful baby for the first time in your arms!

Yes, it hurts. But it is nothing to be afraid of. The pain wasn't as bad as all the horror stories I had heard, and afterward the reward really is worth it. You really do kind of forget the pain when you hold that baby in your arms.

Im a 15 year old boy. But I'm taking a anatomy and physiology class. And my teacher says that having a baby, is like having a kidney stone in the valve that allows you to pee. That you keeop trying to pee the stone out, but it hurts, because of it's sharp edges.
So yes. I'm pressuming it hurts.

let's think about this, if a baby is about the size of a watermelon and you want to squeeze it out of something the size of lemon. I would say yes it hurts but I think that most people are so happy to see their child that they are willing to deal with the pain.
