My Chinese water dragon seems to only want to eat meal worms. I was told by my vet that they need a variety, crickets etc. he only seems to like the meal worms. I do spray these with vitamins. He also gets a fresh fruit dish w/ greens daily. He doesn't touch it. Does anyone use any other source of protein for their dragons? Also does the time change for their need of the UV rays in the winter months? He seems to hide under the greenery alot? His heat lamp & UV are on from 5am-6pm he also has a heat pad thats on 24/7 He has a water pool and hes in a 50 BR tank. He seems happy and I take him out alot. Thankyou

I'm not sure if it is nessecary to change their time for UV rays in the winter.
You should definitely try to feed him different things. He may not eat the fruits and veggies for a while but you can keep trying, since it is good to have them everyonce-in-a-while, but not nessecarily every day.
What kind of vitamins do you put on your mealworms? Be sure that they are getting enough calcium. When I feed crickets I put pure calcium powder on them.
You didnt say how often your feed your dragon mealworms. If he REALLY wont eat anything else you put in, I would suggest skipping a meal or two and then putting some crickets in for him to eat.
I also feed my water dragons baby mice. Some people dont like to do this, but I think its one of the best ways to give them protien and calcium. When my CWD's were little, I started with mice "pinkies". I had a young water dragon that was sick and couldn't get him to eat for a while, so I tried to give him a live mouse "pinky". He loved those, now he eats good and is doing great. Now that my CWD's are bigger, I feed them mouse "fuzzies" that I buy frozen, then thaw them out (with warm water) and then feed them.
I feed them mostly mouse fuzzies, "dusted" (with calcium) crickets, and occasionally mealworms and fruits/veggies.
Hope that helps!!

feed him meal worms, and turn the time down on the lamps about 4 hrs. And I know some people that would love to take his place. Lots of love there.
