Christmas is about giving not receiving. Don't have hurt feelings, just remember the spirit in which you gave the card. It was very thoughtful and I'm sure your friend thought so as well.

if he is really a close friend, well then u can overlook that, many times we then to overlook such acts of care toward those who are very close to us, perhaps its because we believe that they already know that we would always be there for them through thick and thin, so a card or a candy bar would make little or no difference in our relationship. it doesn't mean we dont care about them, as a matter of fact it often means they care about u more than petty gifts.

no, it's not a bad thing. you'll have to wait for another holiday to see if he remembers you. If he didn't have a gift for you when you gave him one, it's actually good that he didn't immediately run out and buy you something because that wouldn't have been sincere... It's okay, I think you're taking it a little too hard.

Wait till your spouse doesn't get you anything, and starts closing emails with " see ya" instead of " love you".
Then you can be offended.

christmas is not about receiving gifts. the essence of this is loving one another. tke it from this line "you wish you could give more than just presents from the store".
