Try checking the cord the connects the monitor to the computer. If it is all good then its probably the wiring inside the wire or a faulty input on the back of your monitor.
You may be missing a "video codec" but i doubt that.
Some ways to fix it:
-Check that all video cable connections to the computer video port and to the monitor are properly connected.
-Examine the pins on the video cable connector to make sure they are not bent or damaged in any way.
-Connect a known working monitor (if you have an extra one available). If you see video after doing so, replace your old monitor.

It's the monitor that puts up the "No video" message when nothing is attached. If you have built in video and a video card the computer might have switched devices and the other video port would work. If you just have a card it could be loose in the slot or bad. If you just have video built into the motherboard it could have gone bad, and you'll need to find a card to use. You can get a basic video card for pretty cheap to try out.
Then again, your computer might not be starting. Look at the hard drive activity light and figure out if the computer seems to be starting normally.

What do you mean "no video". This is what is displayed on your monitor or you mean there is no display at all. Then the problem is with your operating system. It is not loading up. The best option would be un plug every dam thing from the computer. Re-connect every thing and run the Windows Installation CD afresh. This would take an hour so please be patient and follow every step carefully. This would save you a lot of money and it is worth. If take it a computer repair shop they just Install what I said and charge a couple of hundred dollars for that or even may be more. So on week end make big mug of coffee and do this. Though it is bit boring but you'll learn a lot at the end of it. Good Luck.

Depends when it goes blank really.. If you can start windows fine and have video but then automatically the thing shuts off and you dont get input on the monitor that tells me that you are losing full power, even through the power supply.. Try plugging it into a different socket in the wall. When your computer shuts off, look at the motherboard in your PC and see if that light is still luminated. If not then you have a power supply/motherboard issue, most likely power supply.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
