Months ago someone here on Y!A asked, "The Supreme Court has ruled on seperation of church and state & it is valid. How can right-wingers just dispute that way?
I responded,
The Supreme Court cannot possibly rule on all matters of how and when to separate church from state. And it has certainly not been consistent about the topic. I think "right-wingers" are not just frustrated about being disempowered by the Court but are also perplexed about the Court's inconsistency. The Court has disallowed prayer in public schools -- even a moment of silence -- but has also said that Congress and the state legislatures may hire chaplains to lead prayer. The Court will allow city hall to put a nativity scene on the front lawn so long as Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph are also in the manger, but not if the nativity scene is only made up of the religious symbols. Is the Supreme Court supposed to erect a "wall" separating church from state or is it supposed to erect a slice of swiss cheese separating church from state?

What part of the first ammendment didn't you read, if one reads the actual version, as has been stated the "seperation of church and state" is a catchphrase... not an actual wording in the constitution. All It means is goverment isn;t allowed tohave a state religion and shove it down the peoples throats ( like how the english had the anglican church as a state religion)

properly stated: supply the guy a gold famous guy or woman please: In England there became a state sanctioned faith IE The Church of england. Created by ability of Henry the 8th. in case you probably did no longer have faith you have been branded a heretic and would desire to be burned on the stake. And forgive this diversion: yet Henry created this as a fashion of having back on the Catholic church, whilst they does no longer furnish him yet another divorce. at that element all the Brothels tithed to the church. So Henry dissolved the Catholic church in England, alongside with its abbeys and monasteries. The Brothels then tithed to the Church of england. be conscious: Prostitution became no longer a sin at that element. somewhat the different as in case you have been a guy and married a prostitute you have been appeared upon as intense status as you had a spouse with an earnings. So this took a multitude of economic earnings far flung from the Catholic church. in the present day the Catholic church declared prostitution as sin. so as that all the former Catholics could end going to the brothels. it is likewise mentioned that the "Bible scriptures the place replaced in the present day to replicate the church homes view in this project" ah politics and faith ain't it grand. besides. . This u . s . a .'s fore fathers the place Deists no longer Christians, they believed in a some distance better power no longer Jesus Christ. do no longer enable the Born returned assholes attempt to tell you different. And as such it became freedom of (as you mentioned) all religions. once you notice a rustic with a non secular premise for its government. there are various oppressed those with in that u . s . a .. and not surprising all of them verify out war with somebody else or civil strife interior themselves. faith and politics are a foul company . you could thank your God or Goddess or Gods that our fore fathers wrote our shape the way they did or we could be interior the comparable restore as Iran, or Iraq. no longer Shiites vs Sunnies it may be Catholics vs the Protestants, vs the Baptists vs the pagans wait they nonetheless are in basic terms its no longer criminal humm oh properly

Freedom of religion is a specific constitutional right of individuals, while the separation of church and state is not possible. What part of American history don't you understand? What part of recent Russian history (within the last 100 years) don't you understand (as one of the more successful attempts to remove the inherent trappings of Christianity from their society)?
Small minds lead to simplistic and impractical solutions.

Well...like it or not...this country was built on religious beliefs...Every document, every building, all our money, our court systems were designed around swearing on the Bible, everything was designed around a Christian belief system...What part of that is so hard to understand...and if there are those that don't like it...why are they here? Everything that has always been should not have to be altered to meet what others want.

No you don't understand
What you don't understand is that I can put a nativity in my front yard if I want.
What you don't understand is that I can mention my God in my graduation speech the same as you can mention yours or your lack there of.
What you don't understand is that as a Christian I have rights too.
Most importantly if I want to stop in the middle of the mall or anyother public place and pray to MY God out loud you need to shut up and keep walking.

"Separation of church and state" is no where in our constitution or laws. It is a modern, liberal expression that ignores the reason our ancestors (from Europe) came here to begin with. They wanted freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

Ha. Silly liberal. You have no factual basis for this claim. I am Republican and I fully understand freedom of religion and separation of church and state. Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black.
