What you're worried about is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. It's caused by alcohol in the mother's blood stream that effects the neurological connections of the fetus' forming brain. Because you drank the day after you conceived, chances are that the egg was just being fertilized still, nothing actually even forming yet. You and your baby should be OK, but now that you no you're pregnant, and the fetus is growing, NO more drinking. Take pre-natal vitamins too. If you're still worried, I'm sure your OB-GYN can answer your questions.

I did the same thing. I got pregnant, but had partied about a week later and I worried the entire 9 months about the baby. ( I was so scared I didn't even want to tell anybody) But everything was fine, she was fine, no problems, perfect baby girl! I talked to the doctor after and finally told them that I had been worried, she said it was fine. That early on alcohol will not effect the baby, but it's important now that you know not to continue. Take care of yourself!
Good Luck and Congrats!!!

Same thing happened to me, it was New Years and I drank alot, then a couple weeks later I found out I was pregnant I was scared too, but everything was fine, it didnt hurt the baby, thank God. but im sure alot of women drink and not know they are pregnant. My friend was pregnant the same time I was on new Years but she already knew she was pregnant and she drank anyway, I told her not to but she did, and thankfully her baby was alright too. Good luck and congratulations

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. A similar thing happened to me -- I got pregnant, and right about that time I got a cold, so I was taking cold medicine, and then I went to a concert and had a few beers. When I then found out a couple of weeks later that I was pregnant, I freaked out. I talked to my doctor about it and she said not to worry about it AT ALL, and she was right -- I had a big, perfectly healthy little boy 9 months later. : )

Many women don't know they are pregnant right away and have a few drinks. Generally Dr's tell you not to worry. The important thing is to stop drinking now. (Which it sounds like you have).
Don't worry the baby will be fine.

Relax.
Almost ALL women drink a little before they know they're pregnant.
Me? I hadn't touched anything for over six months, then had a couple drinks (liquor) when I was on an airplane. And a week later discovered I was expecting.
Relax -- it'll be OK. Just abstain from alcohol from here on out.

Everything should be just fine. You already know not to drink any more alcohol; especially in the first trimester. Often, women don't find out that they are pregnant until much later.

worry will hurt more than the alcohol. like you already stated the baby wasn't attached yet so it isn't getting what you get yet. it is proably attached by now so what you consume is being shared now. Relax you are in for a wild ride for the next 9 months. congrats

My friend foudn out she was pregnant right after a vacation where she went to an all inclusive resort and drank like crazy. Her baby was fine - don't worry. Just don't do it now that you know!
