Yes. Marriage is still a sacred institution. I think the problem is two fold. We expect instant gratification. We do not want to work and build a relationship. Once you say I do a lot of people stop trying. Secondly alot of people have the misconception that marriage is perfect bliss between two people. Anyone who believes this is headed for disappointment. There are some of us that still care.

Alot of people don't care, like my current wife soon to be ex wife, on the other hand I still believe marriage is a sacred bond between two people. She doesn't even want to try.

In a lot of marriages people have just stopped caring about anyone except themselves. There is a lot of selfishness coing on these days. People are out for themselves. Fewer people care about others it seems. However, you might be surprised to know that charitable giving is up over previous years. Maybe though it is because such donations are tax deductible so there is even a selfish motive behind this. There are however, people who do care about others and about their spouse. Marriage is still a sacred institution for most people in that the process of divorce can wreak havoc on anyone especially when it comes to division of property. But I guess marriage is what you make it and if you really love someone you should be committed to that individual. Of course this should be a mutual consent and committment. If not, the marriage will not last and there are record numbers of divorces now. There are many people who live together and do not intend to get married. This is wrong and only makes things more difficult for each person involved. Of course they only find this out when it is too late.

marriage should still be a sacred bond between two people who deeply is in love with each other. and don't want no one else but eachother, but there are some that stop caring, who gets married because they have too. and those marriages usually don't last.

i think some people really dont care about it anymore and a lot of people do it for the status just to say yeah i am married and for other stupid reasons i am married and will be married for 4 years in april and feel that it is sacred but something you really both have to care about and work through marriage is not easy by any means.

Marriage has only recently believed to be a 'sacred bond' between two people; historically it is a financial or resource-related bond between families. This is why in Biblical sources you'll find examples of levirate marriage (re-marriage to a deceased person's same-sex sibling.)

I think most people go into a marriage with the best of intentions. However, I believe that when couples begin to have problems many people don't know how to work on the issues because we live in a society where it's easier to just go out and get something new when the "old" version is broken. I also think that many people "hope for the best, but expect the worst" and know that if things don't work out they always have the option of divorce and it's nowhere near as taboo as it once was.

Marriage is really a legal and binding contract which is why the state issues a liscence for them and a judge is required to disolve one.
It's a sacred bond if for your reasons you decide to overlay it with mysticism.

marriage is still a sacred bond but why marry if you are not sure to stay with your partner thru "thick and thin"?
