Indira Point (formerly known as Pygmalion Point and for a brief period of time as India Point) is situated on the island of Great Nicobar in the Nicobar Islands, eastern Indian Ocean, and it represents the southernmost point of land in the territory of India. The point is located in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is named in honour of Indira Gandhi.

Although Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent itself, Indira Point was the furthest south on Indian soil until the tsunami generated by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake inundated much of its area, partly submerging the lighthouse. However, geologists have stated that the sea is slowly starting to retreat back to its original position.-

Because the last tsunami submerged the lighthouse at Indira Point. The whole island is covered over, and so it is not considered as the southernmost part of India anymore. Geologists claim that the land is resurfacing, so it might be the southernmost point after all.
