With today’s technologies and games, do you think imagination is still the best form of entertainment? Studies have actually shown, and I am sure from your own observation you can see that just about everyone watches TV seemingly endlessly.

As well, with things like the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 (and the other previous video game systems), PSP, Nintendo DS, computer games, internet games, and a thousand other forms of gamming people really do not have to rely on just “pretending” or “make-believe” anymore. However, at the same time, things like Barbie and Hot Wheels are still among the top sellers. So, has imagination lost its rank or do you think it still reigns supreme?

The most entertaining things, are still, generally the most imaginative ones. The most popular movies, Star Wars, Shrek, Lord of the Rings etc, are about stories that took a tremendous amount of imagination to create. The most popular video games are similar in that regard, they are the ones with the most intricate worlds, and therefore the most imaginative.

Having said that, by entertaining ourselves with someone else's imagination, we lose much of our own, and that's why originality in these arenas is actually on the decline.

Imagination is the BEST form of entertainment, but it may be losing its grip on the most utilized form.

i'm torn on this one. i want to be in advertising someday and my job will depend on my imagination. while video games and television have been spoon feeding us "imagination" as of late, i don't think someone can stay sane unless they imagine, at least to a degree. i think creativity and imagination fuel each other and everyone needs to be creative at some points in their lives. so, in answer to your question, no, i do not think that imagination is gone or replaced, some people might just have to work harder to get theirs going. by the way, good question!
