I am inerested in knowing if the fish can seperate oxygen from water while it breaths, can the breathing of a fish be simulated to seperate oxygen and hydrogen from water?

Most fish exchange gases by using gills that are located on either side of the pharynx. Gills are made up of threadlike structures called filaments. Each filament contains a network of capillaries that allow a large surface area for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Fish exchange gases by pulling oxygen-rich water through their mouths and pumping it over their gill filaments. The blood in the capillaries flows in the opposite direction to the water, causing counter current exchange. They then push the oxygen-poor water out through openings in the sides of the pharynx. Some fishes, like sharks and lampreys, possess multiple gill openings. However, most fishes have a single gill opening on each side of the body. This opening is hidden beneath a protective bony cover called an operculum. Some fishes, such as lungfish, have developed an adaptation known as a labyrinth that allows them to survive in oxygen-poor areas or places where bodies of water constantly dry up. These species of fish possess specialized organs that serve as lungs. A tube brings air containing oxygen to this organ by way of the fish's mouth. Some kinds of lungfish are so dependent on receiving oxygen from the air that they will suffocate if not allowed to reach the surface of the water.

Hydrogen is an element.
Oxygen is an element.
They combine in the form of 2 parts O and 1 part H to make water H2O.

The gills of a fish cannot break apart the compound of water into its basic elements.

The fish breathes O2 that is dissolved in the water, that is, O2 that is not combined with H.

The fish takes in O2 and gives off CO2 it does not exhale H.

Fish breathes the DISSOLVED oxygen from water. It doesn't break up the water molecule. Like when we breathe, we take in air containing many gases. We seperate oxygen with the help of our lungs and give out the rest. In the same way, the fish breathes water with dissolved gases and seperates the oxygen with the help of gills. Correction. Fish have no mechanism to break up water molecule to its constituents, namely Oxygen and Hydrogen. The truth is that some amout of Oxygen is found dissolved in water. It is this Oxygen that fish breath.

Fish don't breath the O2 that's part of the water molecule. They breath O2 that's gas dissolved in the water.

Gasses can dissolve in water. Oxygen gets dissolved in water. The fish use this oxygen. They do not separate the water molecule. If you put a fish in pure, distilled water in a closed system, it dies from lack of oxygen

That would be fantastic, using fishes to end our energy problems. Instead of a fuel tank on your car you would have a fish tank and the car would burn clean hydrogen gas. Sadly this is complete nonsense and any study of animal biology and respiration will tell you that the much less useful CO2 is produced.

the fish breath through its gills... the come to the top of the water and absorb the oxygen and then leave the hydrogen...

I think you know about diffusion and osmosis.in fish,it takes water through its mouth and from there water enters the gills.here exchange of gases take place by the process of diffusion.diffusion occurs due to difference in concentration of O2 &CO2 present in water and blood.so,CO2 enters into water.and that water is sent out through apertures present on the lateral walls of fish. and O2 which has entered into blood is supplied to body parts.
I think you have seen holes on fish.
