Gold, silver, red and some blue and yellow baubles and angels. An incredibly gaudy fibreoptic angel on top which my kids LOVE, and plain white lights, which can sparkle or flash in about twenty different ways, and I'm sure they'll trigger a seizure in someone before Christmas is over, and some handmade wooden elf-heads that my kids made in Santa's Workshop in Lapland.
That's on the TOP half of the tree - the bottom half is almost completely bare, thanks to our kamikaze kitten who thinks this is the best toy ever invented especially for her..... we keep finding her lying in the middle of the branches, and when we take her out, she dive-bombs straight back into it from the arm of the couch about four feet away! She may not survive Christmas....

My tree is the same traditional green, but when I was a child we had an all White Christmas tree. Never saw another since. My tree has been decorated with red & orange, It actually looks great! Plus I put a little snowman inside the tree, it looks really cute.

The secret to making the tree the most beautiful is to put just enough lights on it to make it glitter but not glare, to make the lights several different colors, not just one, and to use plenty of the shiny balls that reflect the colored light. The reflections give you more special light and less glare, for the most beautiful Christmas tree you can imagine.
