it sounds like you got your windows fitted by some cowboy company,as you shouldn't be getting drafts if the jobs done properly.when a pvc window is fitted, they're always fitted with the frame going in first, then the sealed glass unit is fitted into the frame, and finally the sealed unit is held into place by the beading.so it sounds like the sealed unit didn't fit snugly into the frame, causing the drafts.if your problems persist, then i would advise you talk to a solicitor about it,normally these sort of companies will get their **** into gear once they recieve a letter from a solicitor.hope you get it all sorted out soon.

You've asked this question before and the answer is the same. The window should be fitted with a correctly fitting and sealing rubber or neoprene seal all the way around. There would be absolutely no need for a fitter to remove this seal and put silicone sealant in!

The only place he should have fitted any sealant is around the outer edges of the frame where the window meets the brickwork.

It sounds to me that the window was made slighty undersized and when the screw fittings to the brickwork were put in, it has distorted the frame just enough for it to break the contact seal with the glass.

You should not have any draft coming thru these type of windows.

Unfortunately a large proportion of upvc window installers rode into town on a horse. They have one thing in mind when fitting your windows, speed, speed, and more speed. They just want to bodge them in and move on to the next job. Hopefully you held some money back until you were happy with the quality of the work?

This happened to me, I wasn't happy with the job, I told them I was holding back £500 until the job was done properly. They never bothered coming back. Eventually I had to find a reputable company to come and put the job right and then I sued the original company through the small claims court to cover the cost of this.

Something I learnt about replacement windows along the way. 1 Cheapest quote isn't always best. 2. Ask for references and follow them up. 3. Contact local trading standards and find out if any complaints against the company have been upheld.

Know your rights and stand your ground. If necessary contact your local citizens advice bureau. Good Luck.

I lady and her husband that i work with ran in to this as well. They finally had the window replaced for free. But, that was only after the window had let water in the house covering the back of the drywall with mold.
