People tend to try to be conservative so the public won't label them as sluts or whores or whatnots.

Some people are not sure of their Identity.
That they wish to not to come out or they live in the area of (Stix, Rednecks, K.K.K., and Right Wing Conservative Christians) and more of a small town where word gets around quick.
even thou they look or fell feminine or masculine.
Some people just choose to be in denial on what they are that they wish just to hide how they feel emotional and sexually

If you mean in an orientation way, there are a number of reasons.
One would be the fear of being labeled or judged based on it. Another would be the fear of how family/friends would react. Another would be fear of discrimination. As someone else, that all comes down to fear..
If you mean sexual feelings for a person, there's still mostly just elements of fear.. Such as the fear or rejection, fear of inadequacy, fear of failure, fear of reliving bad experiences.

Because most people are sexually insecure and sexually dysfunctional!
There are a lot of reasons for this, but the main one being societal taboos on the subject!

In fear that some one may judge them, for fear of rejection. Out of respect for others in public...When they dont know how the other person is going to react to their actions. . I guess it all depends on the person.
