Inside the car is extremely clean but the smell is disgusting. Tried leaving the windows open but it doesn't help. If I leave the windows closed and get in it the next day it smells so bad I can't stay inside. Yet the car itself is extremely clean! WHat would it be and how to get rid of this smell??

Aside from the vagina and onions thing I think it may be BO. It will not be a fun process but rent a steam cleaner and clean out the whole car including the cieling if it's upholstered. Then spray on some febreeze after washing it. Once completely dry throw some bowls with baking soday (7 of them) one in the front passenger floor, one in front driver's floor, one on floor on each side of back seat and two in each front seat, one in the back seat. Leave this for as long as possible, at least while you sleep. Spray with febreeze again and get some air fresheners for your mirror, and on those little coat hooks in the back seat. The smell could be coming from your heat and air ducts though and there's not much you can do about that other than spending a bunch of money.

First step is to search through the car to see if there's something dead or rotting in it. Next, follow these steps:

STEP 1: Shampoo the car's interior, including carpets, upholstery and floor mats with an odor eliminating shampoo, available at hardware or home improvement stores.
STEP 2: Clean all washable interior surfaces with the same shampoo. Put a small amount directly on a damp sponge, work in and wipe down, include the car's headliner (or "ceiling").
STEP 3: Clean all the windows inside with a glass cleaner. Repeat if necessary.
STEP 4: Sprinkle baking soda on dry carpet, working it in with your hands. Wait a week and then vacuum.
STEP 5: Clean leather upholstery with a commercial leather cleaner/deodorizer, available at your dealership or at home improvement stores.
STEP 6: Vacuum ashtrays to remove residual ash. Place a small amount of baking soda or kitty litter into the ashtrays to absorb odors.
Overall Tips
To freshen the car, keep dryer sheets under the seats, or place a little activated charcoal in a no-spill container (such as a jar with small air holes in the top) and place in car.
If you are unsuccessful, consider taking the car to a professional detailer.
Air fresheners may disguise the smell but they won't remove it.

I think your car may have been owned by a smoker or a gynecologist.

Alright, one time I spread baking soda out on two cookie sheets - I put one sheet in the front of the car, one in the back and I left them there overnight with the windows sealed (to get rid of seafood smell).... It absorbed most of the nastiness I was smelling. Then I used a steam cleaner to the upholstery - it worked!

smell is probably in the upholstry and floor mats. have you pulled the back seat to make sure there's no dead things under?

get a box of baking soda. empty it on the floor mats. 2 boxes if needed, they're only like 79 cents. leave it there for 8-10 or more hours. vacuum. no guarantees tho. sometimes those smells never go away. had to sell a car once because it gagged me.

pull the seats and let them air out in the sun.

vinegar water is great for removing smells but it takes time. Also try using febreeze. Clean your seats and floors and all inside really good. Use a carpet cleaner for upholstry and carpet on the floorboards.

One thing you can try is to get some of those coffe pouches that are pre-measured and sealed and put some of them under your seats. There are several things you can try, but coffee is not an unpleasant smell and the odor absorbing properties of coffee grounds is suprisingly high.

Take the car to a auto detailing shop and have the interior cleaned professionally.

Have you ever seen the movie 'Grumpy Old Men'? Start hanging the air- freshener until you find the onion-puss.

Try using Fabreeze or Oust.

Smells like a vagina or peeled onions? I can't answer your question but have to wonder, if you can't tell those two smells apart, exactly what sort of women have you been with?
