Less number of overs, shorter boundries and the same number batsmen (10). That means even if wickets fall, u can compensate by scoring fast. Afterall you have to survive or say play for 20 overs only.

In 20/20 Match maximum 20 overs are permitted for each team, wheeas one day international matches are of 50 overs duration.
Hence team will try to accumulate maximum runs possible within the 20 overs as wicket is not considered as a criteria because you have 11 batsman to play the 20 overs. However, in the ODI, team will try to consolidate the score without loosing many wickets upto 30 overs and then try to score fast.

The rules of 20/20 matches are given below:

The Laws of cricket apply to Twenty20 with some exceptions:

Should a bowler deliver a no ball by overstepping the popping crease, it costs 2 runs and his next delivery is designated a free-hit, from which the batsman can only be dismissed through a run out, as is the case for the original "no ball".

Bowlers may bowl a maximum of only 4 overs per innings.

Umpires may award 5-run penalty runs at their discretion if they believe either team is wasting time.

If the fielding team do not start to bowl their 20th over within 75 minutes, the batting side is credited an extra 6 runs for every whole over bowled after the 75 minute mark, the umpire may add more time to this, if at his discretion the fielding team is wasting time.

The following fielding restrictions apply:

No more than 5 fielders can be on the leg side at any time.
During the first 6 overs, a maximum of 2 fielders can be outside the fielding circle.

After the first 6 overs, a maximum of 5 fielders can be outside the fielding circle.

If the match ends with the scores tied and there must be a winner, the tie is broken with a bowl-out (similar to a penalty shootout in football), with 5 bowlers from each side delivering 2 balls each at an unguarded wicket. If the number of wickets is equal after the first 10 balls per side, the bowling continues and is decided by sudden death.

Reason is limited overs. All batsmen will get only 20 overs to play, they will try to score maximum runs in allotted overs.
50 overs match :
Means minimum 300 balls can play a team to score and set maximum runs target to opposition team. In 50 overs match batsmen took their time to settle down first and then excelrate the innings with 4 and 6's.

20 overs match :
There is no time to settle down , just go and hit the ball over on fence. Score maximum and set a good total. Due to less overs or only 120 balls every team tries to hit maximum.

Rules in both version of the games are almost same except few additions in 20/20. Like after every no ball bowled by bowler opposite team will get a free hit. Free hit means not out except run-out. Batsman can hit the ball freely if he caught on that ball he will be not out.

mainly because in 50 ovs match batsman bats seifishly to score 100,but in 20-20 you dont get time so you go to hit & score as maqny runs as possible.i say about 80% bcos of above reason & 20% bcos of rules

Less overs make it a more intense situation. Players less concerned about keeping their wicket or building a partnership. Not sure it's really cricket to me.
