Check her diaper...is she wet? Does she have a rash? Is she constipated?
Is she hungry? Thirsty? Cold?
For her face to become red and if she's gasping for air....something is wrong!
Go through the list I've given you...perhaps she is just lonely and needs Mom's hug. Cuddle her, read to her, give her butterfly kisses...Maybe she just needs YOU.

Well, try to calm her of course. Make sure there's nothing you can do to help (is she hungry, wet, cold, hot, is there a hair or string wrapped around a toe or finger, is that tag in her onesie rubbing her back raw), try giving her a bath if can't find anything wrong.
My face turns red if I cry hard enough. I would think as long as she's not blue she'll be okay. Do what you can for her but if you want a real answer, talk to a doctor.

I dont know about that because I cant see exactly how your baby is when shes crying, but if you really are that concerned you must see a doctor. It doesnt matter if they think you are a fussy mum, all that matters is your baby is ok and you are not stressing. My baby does go read and take those huge breaths in when he screams, but most babies do I think. It also depends on how stressed your baby is getting and why. Is she just crying like that when she needs feeding or is tired? Or is she inconsolable or you dont know whats causing the crying? Just take her to the doctors, its best to put your mind at ease.

I left my five-week-old daughter at home with her dad for a few hours while I went grocery shopping. He called me every five minutes... he was freaking out, thinking he was doing something wrong because she was crying nonstop.
Babies are very simple. They cry for one of a few reasons: they're hungry, dirty diaper, too hot, too cold. It could also be that they are over or understimulated. Most of the time, my daughter just wants to be held. Babies love to feel warm and surrounded.
Just remember that when your baby is crying and it seems like nothing you do can stop it, it's not your fault!

lots of good answers already. I recomend you make a list of all of them and check each. Above all else remain calm.
When my daughter was born my wife was inexperienced. With the baby crying she would get frustrated trying to figure out what was wrong. This caused our daugter to fuss even more. By the time my wife figured out what was needed the problem had been compounded. In several cases I had to kick her outa the room. With a little calm attention carrie'd calm down.

when they are little, and they cry, all the blood rushes to the surface of the skin, that makes them red.
but they can have problems with breathing, hopefully your baby is just hysterical, and there is nothing wrong. so if your baby is crying for ages, then its just the blood going to the skin.

when my son is good and mad, his face turns red and he doesn't breathe either, ifyou just blow in their face (just a little quick breath) it reminds them to breathe. he's only 4 mos old so he's a little hard to understand exactly what he wants and he has his mother's patience(which isn't a whole lot) so he can get pretty mad at me sometimes.
