Too many people are accessing it at one time. It happens mostly near holidays. Think of surfing like going down a highway, the more people going down the same path (I.E. to the Sears website) the more congested traffic will be.
The reason it shows up blank is because the information packets just aren't getting to your computer and the browser interprets it as a invalid site address.
Don't worry unless this happens with every site you visit your puter is fine. (although scaning is ALWAYS recommmended)

Because the Sears website is crap and constantly under construction- just like their stores. Just wait a while, it will come back up.

#1 Server broke.
#2 Your connection speed is too slow for the server to handle your access request.
#3 Your security software might be accidently blocking the site.
#4 Network administrator blocked website ask system administrator to allow access if denied sorry but your out of luck.
#5 Server ranout of bandwith.
