Hello dudes, I was wondering what would happen if say our bodies were in a spacecraft that suffered decompression and we got vented into space? Would the pressure in our bodies cause us to explode, or just massively haemorrhage?

No guesses or jokes please, only scientific answers.

Answerer #2 - Implode? What the hell? Since when do things implode in a vacuum? I don't understand.

Nope, the body won't blow up. Your blood won't boil, either.
There are a number of things about being in space, in a vacuum, which could cause harm to the human body.

You wouldn't want to hold your breath. This would cause lung damage. You would probably remain conscious for several seconds, until the blood without oxygen reaches your brain.
It would be pretty darn cold, but the human body doesn't lose heat that fast, so you'd have a little time before you froze to death. It's possible you could have some problems with your eardrums, including a rupture, but maybe not. It would be worse if you had a cold, and were stuffy headed, with no way for the pressure to equalize.

There was once a case in an international airliner when a really fat woman flushed the toilet while still being seated on the toilet. Since aircraft toilets work on vacuum suction when you flush them, all her guts got sucked out. That is how strong a simple aircraft vacuum is. Now, if you were to be put without any protection into space, which is vacuum all the way, then your body would expand immediately, and "explode" if put in your words. My suggestion: try not to go past the 10KM line from the Earth's surface ;-)

No explosion. No boiling of blood. No immediate death. However, you would lose consciousness after a minute without breathing and you would eventually die. The most immediate problem is lack of oxygen.

Let's say you get oxygen but are still out there, the next problem is sunburn. No ozone layer, no atmosphere to absorb UV rays.

If the decompression is (relatively) sudden, you may suffer from "the bends".

you don't explode but rather implode unless you you have on a space suit then you would just continue you traveling in one direction for ever o until you hit something it knocks you off course but the odds of that are slim
