I am over 50 and I have seen enormous changes in journalism in that period when I was younger and you watch television or read the newspaper you basically got facts and you the reader was allowed to form your own conclusion.
What I am witnessing now is basically journalistic opinion with some facts thrown in, this has given journalism too much power in shaping the news rather than just reporting it. Many people are now suspicious of journalist I think they are just ahead of used car salesman in a recent poll.
Most intelligent people can filter the news put that still leaves many people being swayed by the subtle way journalist do their reporting. I will give you an example global warming. I have never seen any reporting showing a different perspective on this issue, and there are, but instead of showing the facts for or against all I see is reporting supporting global warming which leads intelligent people to question journalistic integrity.
For those people that are less informed one can see how journalist can have a tremendous affect on how a lot of citizens feel about a particular issue.
