There is no station at Shirdi. From Delhi take any Mumbai bound train via Central Railway(not Western) such as Punjab Mail, BAreilly-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express and get down at Nasik Road Station which is 188 kms from Mumbai. From Nasik Rd. Shirdi is 100 kms 2hrs drive should make it.

The nearest railway station for going to Shirdi is Nashik Junction. From there you can either hire a cab or go by bus to Shirdi.
The following trains are available from Delhi to Nashik Junction:
1) Train No. 1058 ASR DR Express
2) Train No..2138 Punjab Mail.
3) Train No. 2618 Mangla LKDSP Express.
If you are coming by air, you may have to come to Puneas I am not too sure whether any domestic airlines have flights to Nashik.

u cannot go directly to shirdi.if u go by train u can check out for a train that goes to manmad which is 4hr drive from shirdi or u can also go to pune but that wl take longer.there as buses and taxi which ply between shirdi and manmad 24hr.u can check out for the trains going to the given destination on indianrailwaysonline.com. however u can find a place only in the sleeper right now as all other r full.as far as going by air is concerned u can take a plane to pune it is the closest u can get to shirdi by air.
going to mumbai and then nasik takes longer.this is the shortest route
even i m goin to shirdi and take this route every year when i go coz this is the shortest route

i'll give u a good advice, go to http://www.irctc.co.in, make your user id there and a book a ticket by specifying your boarding station, arrival station, particulars of passengers and boarding date
Use your credit card, Indian Railways will automatically book a ticket for you and u will recieve that ticket next day in your house!
