He said it bled alot and then a couple hours later started slowing down and he won't go to the doctor. Will this heal on it's own or does he need to have it seen by a surgeon?

If you are sure it is a hemmoroid, try and make him go to the doctor. If he won't then tell him to run some hot water in the bath tub(as hot as he can stand it) get in and sit for about a half hour. It may ease the hemmies. Then get some tucks pads and stick it up in "there" it will at least make him more comfortable. I suggest he go to a doc immediately though. It could be a vericose vein and that is very painful. The doc can shoot him up with some cortisone and it will be gone in 2 hours. He will feel much better. If he is embarrassed about a doc looking at his butt, tell him not to worry about it, I'm sure the doc has seen it all before!

He's certain it's a hemmorroid? They tend to bleed at times. Be sure to drink lots of liquids (water best), take a good fiber supplement, ease up on chocolates and other fatty foods. Stress tends to cause flare ups - but if it isn't going away in about 3-5 days, he should see a doctor. If the blood is red, it's probably a hem - if he has dark or blackish stool - GET TO A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY - no matter how he feels about doing it!

He needs to see his Doctor to let the Doc
know. Tests can indicate the true condition. It may not be just a bleeding hemorrhoid, but something serious. I have a similar condition, but I have had a colonoscopy and that gives me an assurance of nothing more serious.

Haemorrhoids that are open are a cause of concern firstly beacuse of its proximity to the number one source of sepsis - your Asshole :).If your excreta gets into a bleeding haemorrhoid, it could go septic and cause a lot of unwanted complication.Freezing and removing of them before complications start is the smartest move and is available in most medium to large clinics. Please tak to a health professional and for your own good, do not try any self fixes

Whenever there is a lot of blood involved you should always see a doctor. Better to know what he is dealing with and how to deal with it in the future.
