Does it burn you up too, that an answer that you "know" is wrong gets picked best answer by the voters? It makes me wonder why I bother to answer questions in length, and try to help people who do not "know" just to get voted down. Why am I wasting my time? Maybe I need my head examined for even wasting good time on a loosing battle. Another part of the cause is; once you vote, you can't change the vote, even after you find out you voted for the incorrect answer, you are stuck with what you voted, right or wrong. This is not right, and should be fixed!!!

if you are answering just to get voted best answer then you might want to 'throw' in the towel'-----remember we answer folks to actually help them don't we? my answers seldom get best vote because i answer honestly and that not always what the asker really wants to hear,

It's probably because the asker forgets or doesn't bother to pick the best answer. I think some people go back and look at questions that they've answered and if they're "In Voting" they vote for their answer. If nobody else votes for a different answer then they will win best answer by default. This probably explains why sometimes dumb, bad or wrong replies are picked as "best answer". I don't really care if my answer is chosen as best. But if I take the time to type out a serious, decent answer to someone's question it's nice to get at least a 'thank you' when the choose the best answer. When I pick a best answer to a question I ask I try to thank the other users who gave good answers (and chastise ones that give stupid or insensitive answers)

I agree with all of you. I even gave a wrong answer once and it was voted best answer, but before I could correct it later it was too late. I admit that sometimes one could vote a wrong answer as best. My problem is that I wish there was a moderator in each of these categories that would weed out all the downright stupid questions, I mean total BS questions. They are a total waste of time and trouble and should be monitored by someone.

I know that sentence structure is not good in some cases, but there is no reason for the asker or the answerer not to use the spell checker. Total BS.

The only time when it really bothers me is if the answer is wrong in a way it can do harm... when people are given a really wrong advice in medical matters, or in animal care, and if someone would find that using Google they could really mess up! But I guess people have to take their own responsibility too, and realise not everything here is always correct... if it's a serious matter always try to find a second source before doing stuff.

I agree, there needs to be a comment section , so the answer can be corrected, like there is on other answers, while you are voting amongst the uninformed. Maybe the team should show the % before you vote?

ye...it happens most of the time.i take pains to type a long essay which makes sense and the best answer chosen is something stupid.i don't mind not being voted but at least the best answer must be something good.

RELAX, friend. I see this ALL the time. I figure they are looking for a particular answer, even if it's wrong. Yours (and mine) may be the correct answer, but if the idiot picks the WRONG answer, I guess it's their privilege, right?

Boss
this happens to me all the time. People would not know a good answer if it jumped up and bit them.
