I prefer firefox.
IE plays a minor part.

The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team reccomends that you not use Internet Explorer
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/713878
You will find out that no browser is perfect, but IE is consistently rated low
http://www.webdevout.net/security_summary.php#vulnerabilities
All these reviewers say that Firefox is an all around better browser

What about Opera?

I know all the "better" people are using firefox but I tried it for a couple of days and went back to explorer. For one, it loaded itself on my computer (without asking me) when I wanted to reload the google toolbar. Then all my favourites got lost. It clashed with several other programs so I ended it without any regrets. I hate it when programs act like pushy relatives who come over for a weekend and stay the whole month, bringing other relatives with them (I hope I'm making some sense here).

I use Firefox, and I have for awhile... About two years. I like it because you can use tabs to show different websites on one window, or the download manager, or the pop-up blocker =)
