Landscape - From The Hellholes Of Mars To The Tearooms Of Uranus
They were a weird 80's band, and had a hit single with Einstein-a-Go-Go.
The album is insane (but in a good way)

When I was 8, I use to listen to funky-butt music. Like, straight up. There were people singing like chipmunks to some trance music. It was real weird. I forget if it was an album or just a song.

A mate of mine had an album by some crowd called 'The Wizzards of Twiddly' which was utterly barking. It had a song on it called 'I am an Armitage Shanks' (as in toilet or wash basin).

"The Story of i" by Patrick Moraz, frenetic genetic. With hindsight, I would agree with incongruo's answer, "Trout Mask Replica" by the brilliantly eclectic Don van Vliet as Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band
