I'm 15 and have been on the contraceptive pill for about 6 months i have read that if you forget a pill you are meant to take it along with your next pill the next day! I have forgot a few pills during the 6 months and never took them i just took the following days pill and left it four days without having unprotected sex but after that I did! I've told my boyfriend and he thinks im just being stupid and over paranoid but could there be any chance that i'm pregnant? please help... thanks x

I have Microgynon 30... this is what the pack says...

What to do if you forget to take a pill

- If you are more than 12 hours late in taking a pill or have missed more than 1 pill...
Contraceptive protection may be lower, so you must use extra protection. Follow the instructions for the 7 day rule.
-7 day rule
*take the most recent 'late' pill and continue to take your next pills at your normal times and
*Use an extra contraceptive method for the next 7 days and
*if your present pack ends before the 7 days do, start the next pack the next day, without a break. Do not leave a gap between packs. You will not have a period until you have finished the next pack, but this is not harmful. You may see some bleeding on pill-taking days, but do not worry. If you do not have a period after the second pack, you must talk to your doctor before you start the next pack.

If one pill is 12 hours late or less
Don't worry. Contraceptive protection should not be affected if you take the late pill at once, and keep taking your next pills at the usual time. This may mean taking two pills in one day.

Your pills may be slightly different from this but shouldn't vary too much... always best to read the leaflet in your pack first. If this doesn't help then ask your GP.

Other than that if you are having sex (protected or unprotected) there is always a chance that you will get pregnant... as the cliche says.. abstinence is the only true way of knowing you will not get pregnant.

in your case it sounds like the chances of you being pregnant are pretty minimal however.

hope that helps
good luck to you :)

If you read the instructions correctly, you do have to take the pill you forgot and the pill of that day if you forget it. There is a chance you could be pregnant. I think at your age, youre still too immature to be taking the pill, you should pick another form of contraceptive. I used to forget too because I had too many things on my schedule so I switched to the NUVARING. It;s spectacular. And you just have to think about it once a month. Talk to your doctor just in case you;re pregnant. Good luck!

If you forget a pill and its too late to take it i.e. a day has passed, you need to take the next pill in the pack, DO NOT TAKE TWO PILLS TOGETHER!! Then have sex using a condom for up to seven days. Sounds like you have been doing the right thing but maybe you need to start a routine so you are not forgetting to take your pill. I leave mine on my bedside table so the first thing I do when i get up is take my pill. I have been doing it now for three years and in that time, I have only forgotten my pill once. When I first went on the pill, I missed 2 days so took three pills together. This mad me feel very sick and I do not advise you take more than one pill in 24 hours. It is not good for you.

The key to using birth control pills is to keep a steady flow of medicine in your body at all times. This means you need to take a pill at the same time everyday. If you miss taking one on time, take it when you remember and then take the pill for the next day at the same time. Since you are just starting taking the pill, I think you don't need to have unprotected sex at all. When you get better regulated with your pills, I think you still need to consider that the protection is from disease and not pregnancy.

Yes, there is a chance that you are pregnant because you haven't been taking your pills properly.
I'm sure if you read the leaflet it will tell you you need to wait 7 days if you miss a pill. Not taking a few in the pack is about the worst thing you can do.
If you want to be a mum by the time you are 16, just carry on as you are.

Yes your having sex, no contraceptive is 100 % unfortunately. Plus you have been missing one now and again.
I took the pill every single day and now i have a 2 year old and i didn't miss it at all.

Your best bet is to see your doctor and take a test. Find out one way or another and stop yourself from worrying.

Lots of chance, get a test done. The pill is only 95-99% effective in the first place.

To the person who said the pill is in your system for 3-4 months after you stop taking it, not true. Maybe in your case but not in a lot of people I know. My friend got pregnant within 3 days of stopping taking the pill - be careful!

If you forget a pill for 24 hours some negative consequence it is not suffered, especially if you are in the second phase of the cycle. In every case is better assume it as soon as it realizes to have forgotten it: for example to the morning later. DO NOT TAKE TWO PILLS TOGETHER! Sorry for my bad english...

When you forget to take a pill you are suppose to take it as soon as you remeber. In the meantime you should consult your Dr if you think you could be pregnant.
