I am 8w 5d pregnant. For the last 10 days I have been having light brown staining/discharge. I had a sonogram at 7w 5d (because of this discharge) which showed a healthy fetus with strong hb. They couldn't find any reason for this spotting. The nurse said it was likely to be implantation bleeding and not to worry. But I don't think implantation bleeding lasts this long. My doctor isn't too worried either. Its never turned pink or red & never had severe cramping (have mild frequently). But Im concerned as to what's causing it. Any ideas? Im fed up worrying about it every time I go to the loo and its still there. Has anyone ever had this & been given a proper explanation for it and gone on to have a healthy pg? Im terrified of miscarriage even tho Ive already seen a healthy baby. Id appreciate no miscarriage stories as this will just make me freak out. Thanks.

babe, if there was anything unusual or any need for concern you would be in that hospital bed now, im guessing this is your first baby, every little thing freaks you out, if the baby had a good heartbeat then you can rest easy, by the way, isnt that THE best thing, seeing that tiny person on that screen :-) good luck!

I would get a second opinion for sure. I'm sure your doctor knows what he is doing, but for your own peace of mind hearing another doctor tell you the same thing will be more assuring. You really need to put your mind at ease.
I did have the same thing through all three of my pregnancies but it only lasted a day or two, implantion bleeding, as far as I know, would not last ten days. And surely that is only after the fetus has attached to the womb, around 2 weeks after ovulation (about when your period would normally be due) not after 6w 5d of being inside of you?
A lot of women do bleed during pregnancy so dont stress to much, but just be sure to see another doctor, you dont need any stress during you pregnancy. Just because your bleeding doesnt mean anything is wrong, I think it is something like 30% of women bleed at sometime during the pregnancy for many different reasons, sometimes your cervix is very sensitive and you can bleed a little if you have had sex or sometimes there may be a little tearing in the cervix or entrance to the womb.
I do know how you feel though it can be a bit scary.

Firstly: try and stop worrying... It's normal to bleed, no matter what anyone tells you, during pregnancy. With my first son my wife bled for the whole 9 months to varying degrees of heaviness. With my second son my wife bled for the first 12 weeks and then nothing.
Both my sons were born healthy and my wife didn't suffer during either pregnancies - well no more than is usual ;-)
Bleeding can be caused by implantation. My wife had a small tear in the lining of her womb, too, for no reason that was explained to us. In fact with Ethan, our first son, there was no explanation other than "sometimes this just happens".
Try taking a look at the following book which my wife swore by:

Good luck.

first of all relax.. i know it is hard, but getting worked up aint gonna help.
i was told at a scan at 7w 1d when they found a heartbeat that it meant i had over 90% chance to carry to full term.. i am now 34 weeks :) but i have had 2 strange bleeds, each starting with a drop of clear liquid and then some fresh blood, but baby is fine and there no explination for it..
a friend of mine started bleeding and having clots at 16 weeks, she had this for 2 weeks.. her son is now 9 months old... who knows how pregnancy works.. i would put the staining down to "one of those things"
as long as the foetus is healthy as urs is dont worry...
good luck xx

Hi,
try to relax and stop getting so stressed out. I know it's difficult, but worrying all the time isn't going to make things better. Try to be reassured by your doctors that everything is OK.
They have seen these symptoms before and if they say everything is OK, then it IS ok.
Slow down a bit and make time for yourself. Meditation is very good for both mother and baby, you may like to try it. There are some very good guided meditation CDs out there for mother and baby have look at www.holisticshop.co.uk
