I've never actually done it. Im asking this question because my friend insisted that it's safe..and for his sake, i wanted to find out. It doesn't sound too good to me but what do I know?

Ah the vapourizer. Make sure to use a light bulb brand new from the hardware store that doesn't have that white coating inside the bulb. Wash it out thoroughly and make sure to not use any plastic tapes to assemble it has the heat transfers fast through the bulb and in a minute or two you'll be smoking plastic and not weed.

Never smoked weed, but a light bulb would hurt, I' say No it is not safe.
