As a med student I see it as savings someones life and think about Chris Barnard who did the first heart transplant.

I know this is not what you meant, but in some way it is still true. The heart is seen as the body's engine, constantly supplying the body with blood filled with nutrients and oxygen needed to survive.

Giving someone your heart can suggest that you supply someone with the things essential for truly living. You give someone energy to be the best they can be. You become one. You work together, constantly striving to be better human beings.

When the heart becomes weak, the body starts suffering. Likewise when a relationship is not working out in negatively influences both parties involved.

Luckily Chirs Barnard opened a new chapter for heart transplants. A weak heart can be removed and replaced by a new, stronger, better working one. Likewise if you should break up with someone there is always hope to find another, even stronger partner that will complement you, complete you.

Figuratively speaking to entrust another person with your innermost emotions and give another your love...I think it is something that should not be done lightly and when you give it to another person it should be cherished and well cared for...
