thats a very wonderful idea. let me know if u really started it but i have another suggestion but before i tell u about it i want to say that nobody's answer is great but cant be done here. i dont know if what i am going to say happened in ismailia or not but here in cairo when that project of collecting garbage by a foreign company started, they really put plastic trash cans on (3awameed elnour) and in every street but unfortunately these cans and specially the small ones were stolen.
my suggestion is that we start a group like donia said but instead of collecting garbage we tell people about how bad it is when they throw garbage in the streets and tell them about how uncivilized and dangerous such actions are. i think that if people started by themselves not to throw garbage in the streets then we wont need anyone to collect garbage and we will need just a few number of trash cans. i think that this is a permenant solution which will solve this problem but i still tell u that if a group like that started let me know. maybe people who throw their garbage in streets when seeing me collecting their garbage they may feel ashamed of what they do.

CONGRATULATIONS,THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF EGYPT DO IT AGAIN!
I stay in Gezira El Bairat when I'm in Egypt,I am an Australian.
A young woman there has begun a kindergarten for the" littlies"
.While a group of other young women have banded together with no financial resources, to begin a school for primary age children. Those who have parents that just could not afford to send them to school.
Now you are proposing to do this,Good on You!.
Egypt should be very proud of its young people, and it shows a good indication of where the country is heading in the future..
I have sent a similar email to President and Mrs Mubarak.
Maybe, ,just maybe the problem will also be realised on a infrastructure level. We can live in hope!
That is a great thing about Egypt, people are ready and willing to help, and do something, not just sit and whinge.
In the West, we seem so jaded with life.
Everything is expected to be done for us,or else!
If you email me details I will see what I can do particularly through the Tour Egypt website, for which I write Egyptology articles.
I have a feeling that there is a "World Clean Up Day".But it needs to be done more than once a year and maybe promoted more in Egypt.
All the pro Answerer's need a pat on the back as well.
Good Luck and keep moving forward.

Hi Donia,
I live in Ismailia not Cairo, I just wanted to say that this is a wonderful idea and you are a wonderful person for suggesting this idea.
Allow me to share my point of view with you. I believe that people in nature are willing to do good things, they just need a chance to prove that they are good, and if they are not giving this chance, they start acting in a bad way and they stop caring.
The reason why I started with this introduction is that I believe that the people in Egypt don't want to through trash in the street. In many cases they want to throw the trash in the trash bin, but they can't find any trash bins !!!!

How about this suggestion?. Instead of collecting the trash from the streets, you can start a group that aims at putting a trash bin in every street which doesn't have one.
The resposibility of the group should be as follows:
1- Finding a street which doesn't have a trash can. And I believe they r so many.
2- Collecting money from the people of this street. This can be done by a- Putting a box for collecting donations. b-Contacting religious places like Mosques and Churches so that part of the money given to these places can be used for this purpose.
3- Taking whatever money comes from the donations of the people of the street, giving it to a blacksmith and ask him to make this trash can.

I believe if this can be done in one or two streets, then u have done a great job. You don't have to collect the trash, you just have to give the people an opportunity to throw their trash some where. And as I said. It's enough to do this in 1 or 2 streets. I know I will try to do this in my city, Ismailia

Again Donia, I want to express my extreme admiration for you for suggesting this idea. Egypt needs people like u and the other Medical Students who agreed to do it. It's better to help the country with deeds rather than words.

Have a wonderful day.

i think it's a great idea, BUT i don't think it can be done!

i myself be sara7a would never go out in the streets and collect garbage and then drive it with a truck to wherever it is they put it in! not because i don't want egypt to be clean, on the contrary, but because people here will find it weird..
if i was in europe, e.g. germany or something, i would have done it! NOT BECUASE I LOVE IT MORE, NO! but because ppl there would understand such a behaviour..

and even if we do go out there and collect garbage, the ppl who DO throw garbage in the streets will not stop doing it!!
i was driving the other day, and a woman in the car next to me opened the window and threw something out on the street!! an old woman who has her own car, i mean the thing is spreading throughout the whole society here!!!!

i think the best solution would be to encourage ppl to STOP throwing garbage, not collecting it after they do it! coz otherwise they'll keep on throwing and we'll keep on collecting..

1- I think Egypt will be clean if we started with ourselves ,every one should take more care his own place (home .shop ,street )and keep them always clean and make them in a good view ,but the organization is important.

2-The government should also do it work correctly .

WHO IS THE ONE WHO RATED (((NOBODY))) NEGATIVELY
FOR HIS ANSWER?
I CONSIDER HIM JUST TO BE POLITE A BAD PERSON.
NOBODY IS A SINCERE GUY AND HIS IDEA IS WONDERFUL AND IF I WAS IN EGYPT I WOULD PARTICIPATE IN CLEANING THE TRASH IN THE DIRTIEST STREET IN CAIRO HOPING THAT IN THE FUTURE THE INHABITANTS TAKE CARE ABOUT IT. I HAVE RELATIVES IN ITALY WHO LIVE IN A GOVERNMENT BUILDING AND THEY CLEAN THE STAIRS BY THEMSELVES ONE DAY WEEKLY BECAUSE THEIR FLOOR IS SEVEN FLATS.
