It could be cancer, but it's more likely to be a benign cyst. Nevertheless, go to your GP and mention it. If it's cancer, you will be really glad you didn't wait another few months. If it's a cyst, a quick, minor surgical procedure can be performed under local anaesthesia to remove it. It could also be simplyh a swollen lymph node, although it's unlikely that would persist for 5 years. Smoking rarely causes breast cancer, and dark sodas and sweet teas are simply high in sugar, which could possible stimulate an enlargement of areas of the breast.
However, simply given the fact that it's been around for 5 years, I'm 99% sure it's one of the following:
a) Tumor - benign (non-cancerous)
b) Tumor - malignant (cancerous)
c) Cyst

It could be nothing, it could be serious. Since you say it is painful suddenly (providing you have not been poking at it as most people would do trying to figure it out) you need to see a doc. I would lean more towards a skin ailment like a skin tag before I would cancer since there is no history of it in your family (and kind of cancer?) and you are young. The size has absolutley nothing to do with it, other than I would hate to lose my DD's so I know how ya feel on that LOL
Calm down, take a deep breath, if you have been poking or prodding it, stop for 2 days and see if it still hurts. If it does see if you can get retroactive coverage and submit the bills you incurr in January to be paid by your insurance in Feb.
Good luck, HTH

Since you dont have insurance quite yet I would recommend going to the new "quick clinics" that are located in Cub Foods and Target. I also do not have insurance and a few months ago I had a severe ear infection. I called the emergency room at the hospital and asked how much it would be for an exam if I came in and they told me $400!! I ended up going to Cub Foods and it cost me $50. So hopefully they can help you out there.

Lifestyle and diet can reduce the risk of cancer, but it doesn't prevent it completely.
Breast cancer is easily detected and if caught early enough requires only minor surgery. If left too long (like most cancers) it can be fatal.
Go for a check-up, it is quick, but the x-ray process might be a little painful.
You can go to a doctor, or look for special breast cancer clinics in your local area.

First of all you should see a DR. to get a prescription for a mammogram. You can go to even a walk-in clinic and that Dr. can get a mammogram for you. Well he can get a prescription for the mammogram and you will go to a out-patient radiology center. As far as drinking soda, tea, etc. some women, and I am one of them get fibrocystic cyst in their breast.{ I have had two}.One of the thing to avoid with this condition is my caffeine intake. You may have something like that or a swollen lymph node, in which case you may have an infection. But it sounds like it is worsening, so right after the holidays get it taken care of don't wait till Feb. please GOOD LUCK

Do you not have a doctor that you see, or that your family has seen? That would be the doctor that I would call just to talk with them over the phone about what I found. They could tell me where I needed to go, to see them or to see some one Else if needed.

Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Go immediately to your doctor(internal medicine MD is just fine). DO NOT put this off any longer. It sounds like a mammogram is definately on a "to do" list.
