In the UK you have to be 15 to get a part time job providing it is light work (However this can be reduced to 14 in some industries)

All employers who have workers under the school leaving age need the permission from the local education authority to employ you.

There are restrictions as to number of hours you can work and to the actual hours you can work. You cannot work longer than 8 hours or between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

Also, the employer has to undertake a specific Young Persons Risk Assessment under Health and Safety Law.

There will be restrictions as to what you can serve i.e. you need to be 16 with a responsible adult supervisor to serve alcohol. There may be restrictions on any other adult material i.e. DVDs, literature that you can sell. This means that you may be doing a lot of shelf stacking, cleaning etc.

Go along to the shop and ask if they have any positions available (tell your parents first). They should know the restrictions that I have mentioned above.

Employment of children has specific rules and can be found in the Working Times Regulations 1998.

Best of luck and have a good Xmas.

when i went for a job in spa the age limit was 18 but other similar places its 16. There may be back room jobs that an under 16 could do or resteraunt work like pan washing who are always after staff and happy to hire younger people

You can work on a Staurday but there are restrictions to the hours you can work whilst you are still of school age. You are not allowed to work before 7am or after 7pm. You will not be allowed to sell alcohol, cigarettes or lottery tickets. You may not be allowed to serve behind the till until you are 16 but theres nothing to say you can not sstack shelves. You will probably need to apply for a work permit though from your local County or City council office.

You can work at 15, but the limitation on the amount of hours you can work, plus the statutory breaks and other health and safety considerations means that many stores won't take you on until you are 16, when the law changes. Paper rounds and leaflet distribution are your options.

To serve, you'd need to be at least 16 (and 18 to serve alcohol). Give them a ring, they might need someone to stack shelves.

probably 18 as the spa sells alcohol and you have to be 18 to serve it,
They wouldnt employ someone who they couldnt leave on their own.
Unless they get you in as a shelf stacker
